Independent Complaints: Can we make it a reality?

As part of the Engaging Communities Staffordshire project we are running a workshop to explore a number of gritty questions about the idea of any or all of an NHS or social care complaints function being handled independently. On the day, we will be joined by Lee Bennett. Lee is the Assistant Director of Patient Experience and Public Engagement at Cambridge University Hospitals Trust and is workig with us to act as a critical friend to our thinking. Lee has pioneered a number of successful initiatives, that keep the complaints process closer to the needs and experience of patients.

Patient and Public Involvement and Social Enterprise

We are really pleased to be working with Mutual Ventures http://www.mutualventures.co.uk on a number of projects.

Mutual Ventures and PPI Solutions are working together to bring together a strong set of skills and expertise in both patient and public involvement policy and practice and the set up of successful social enterprises.Creating a fresh new way of delivering sustainable and effective public and patient voice into the system. Mutual Ventures is a new and dynamic social enterprise who work with front-line public service teams and commssioners to empower staff by supporting the development of social enterprises and co-operatives.

GP Patient Participation

Following our successful pilot for the Department of Health to develop Virtual Patient Reference Groups, our Getting Started Guide has been published in the BMA and NHS Employers Guidance for the new Patient Participation DES. http://www.nhsemployers.org/Aboutus/Publications/Documents/Patient-participation-directed-enhanced-service.pdf

“No problem in recruiting over 100 patients to our group. We stopped at 100 but we could have easily got more.”

We can provide you with this tried and tested solution to establish a Virtual Patient Reference Group for less than 10p per patient.

“I am absolutely thrilled that having had no-one come forward to join our patient participation group that was advertised on the web, that so many patients signed up. This will lead to a much more representative selection of patients”.

Following a successful series of workshops, run by PPI Solutions, the Local Involvement Network closely with the PCT and a number of GP Practices to to implement virtual groups. For a informal chat on how we can help, contact us on info@patientpublicinvolvement.com or call 07964 007884.

50 Links!! We recently clocked up working with our 50th Local Involvement Network. Our Enter and View training continues to be popular and successful with great feedback, with recent sessions in Buckinghamshire, Bracknell and Reading.  All our work with LINks is needs led and as such new support models, tools and training modules are being developed all the time. Our peer led Developing Community Networks training is proving particularly successful. Do get in touch if you would like to discuss your needs.
