Empowering Engagement Programme project receives runner up in national award.

December 12, 2017

Aldershot GP Lesley Rosling was one of our first cohort of the successful Empowering Engagement Programme. Each programme participant works on an engagement project throughout the six months. Lesley worked with Steve Manley and the team from Healthwatch Hampshire to improve the experience of people with mental health conditions when they attend GP services.

The project was a partnership with North East Hampshire and Farnham CCG, Salus Medical Services, Wessex Voices, PPI Solutions and AH Breaking Barriers and has been recognised with a national award for excellence.

The ‘Spotlight on Mental Health’ work recieved the runner up prize in the ‘Trojan Mouse’ category from the New NHS Alliance for work that creates a small change with a large impact for local communities.

Service users from the creative writing group went on to host a showcase event. They read out their poems and acted out the solutions to a mixed audience of GPs health professionals and service providers. A short film highlighting this process and its impact can be seen here https://youtu.be/dF_8TiEbBkM
