Local Healthwatch and NHS England working together to make your voices count

January 12, 2016

Wessex Voices is a partnership project between NHS England and the five local Healthwatch in the area. Starting last year we led the pilot project that culminated in a patient and public engagement in commissioning guide and a network of over 50 trained participants. The network are now actively involved in commissioning activity in primary care and the guide is being used by commissioners and others across the area. This year sees the project develop to the next level. A partnerhsip steering group, Chaired by PPI Solutions Director Jessie Cunnett, is now established to enable regular discussion and collaborative working. Learning sessions will be delivered by PPI Solutions in each of the localities over the coming months – we hope this will grow the active network even further. We are evaluating and updating the how to guide. A Project Manager is being appointed and specific work is being carried out to support patients, carers and the public to be directly involved in commissioning primary care, public health services and cancer services.

The project has a blog that provides regular updates and access to project resources – you can view the blog here https://wessexvoices.wordpress.com/you can also follow the project on twitter.
