Jessie Cunnett is the founder and Director of Patient and Public Involvement Solutions a company that enables people and organisations to work together to make better decisions. Currently working with a diverse group of clients on a broad range of projects and initiatives that strengthen the voice and influence of people in ways that are meaningful and relevant. Recent work includes projects for the Department of Health in Staffordshire, NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent, NHS Haringey and NHS Kensington and Chelsea, the National Council for Palliative Care, Help and Care, a Host supporting 13 LINks, HAP UK supporting 10 LINks as well as a number of other LINks nationally including Staffordshire, Gloucestershire and Kent and Medway.

Her work is inspired by the people of our everyday lives and is motivated by a desire to challenge traditional power structures to prove their legitimacy.

Jessie lectures at under graduate and post-graduate levels at a number of universities, and is unit lead at London South Bank University on Patient and Public Involvement. Prior to setting up PPI Solutions Jessie was a Director with the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health and led the South of England pilots for Local Involvement Networks (LINks) on behalf of the DH as well as supporting all aspects of Patient and Public Involvement Forums.

With a post-graduate qualification in community development and a significant depth of knowledge and experience, Jessie is a specialist in the field of patient and public involvement, stakeholder engagement and relationship management.

Associates

Patient and Public Involvement Solutions works with a number of associates recognised in their field for high quality work and who come from a range of complimentary backgrounds.

Ruth Cottington-Bray is an associate with Patient and Public Involvement Solutions. As a passionate believer in the empowerment of individuals and communities, Ruth brings many years of experience at the forefront of public engagement. Utilising both training and coaching skills she has enabled individuals, communities and organisations to embrace the benefits and challenges involved in public involvement development.

She works both strategically and operationally to bring about effective change with a strong emphasis on each individuals contribution.

Central to Ruth’s thinking is that that all achievements and successes are dependent on people feeling valued and supported. She has worked at the heart of health and social care agendas for over 10 years and is a skilled facilitator in developing and supporting partnerships, having herself been elected Vice Chair of Local Strategic Partnerships. She has excellent skills and empathy whether working in multi agency training/development settings or individual/community groups. She also has extensive experience of working within the voluntary sector and a detailed knowledge and understanding of the current national agenda around public involvement.

She has led the development and implementation of significant multi agency government agendas including National Service Framework Programmes. She has also worked with the Womens’ Unit at the Cabinet office on Improving Working Lives. Ruth believes that all people and communities wish to be involved in the decisions that affect their lives and that when enabled to do so, in ways that are meaningful to them, there are no barriers and no ‘hard to reach groups’. Ruth is currently engaged in several projects that have enabled successful developments in engaging with many diverse groups in our society.

Bernadette Beckett is a regular contributor to the work of Patient and Public Involvement Solutions. As the Director of Lewis Beckett Limited Bernadette brings a wealth of valuable experience to the work.

Bernie is an acknowledged leader with proven expertise in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects and implementing change successfully within the NHS, Criminal Justice and Local Authority sectors at a national and local level.  Bernie has a demonstrable understanding of working within the political context when working on behalf of central government.



Bernie has first class communication, people management, negotiation and decision making skills and is an excellent relationship manager with experience of developing sound relations with national, regional and local stakeholders. Bernie believes that to take change forward successfully all stakeholders must be given the opportunity to be involved in the process from planning and development to implementation and monitoring of service delivery.

Bernie is passionate about ensuring the customer is at the heart of service delivery ensuring the needs of the community are met and that services provided are good quality, customer focused and make best use of resources.



Joy Tweed is a part-time lecturer at the University of Westminster where she teaches on post-graduate courses on Patient and Public Involvement in Health and Social Care, Integrated Governance and Collaborative Working. 

She also works as a freelance consultant, including acting as an advisor for the health scrutiny support programme of the Centre for Public Scrutiny. In the past year she has supported local authorities in England around the introduction of Local Involvement Networks, and has a particular interest both in LINks governance and how they can influence the commissioning and provision of local services.


Rachel Hawley has over 25 years experience of working in the NHS at local, regional and national levels gaining experience of leading organisational and cultural change in complex organisations and where patient and public involvement has extensively underpinned her experience. It is a focus on the people side of business which lies at the heart of Rachel’s experience and her work. She has developed an in depth knowledge of the health and social care workforce agenda and its relationship to educational commissioning, ensuring education delivers an appropriately skilled workforce.


Fiona Wood is an accomplished Director with a background in NHS Trusts, healthcare regulation and Non-Departmental Public Bodies. She has 20 years experience in the NHS with 6 years experience as a Director in trusts providing acute, mental health and community services. She has significant experience of managing major service reconfigurations, trust mergers and foundation trust development. Her success is built on effective stakeholder, staff and community engagement and thorough analysis. She has particular skills in service review, business case development, option appraisal and programme and project management.

Fiona is a qualified health service manager and programme manager (Office of Government Commerce Programme Management Practitioner.)
